As a cold front approaches Massachusetts, the National Weather Service said scattered showers and thunderstorms could bring heavy rainfall to the state Monday night into Tuesday morning. While most of the day will stay dry, locally heavy rain as well as urban and small stream flooding in low lying areas is possible later on, forecasters said. The greatest chance for precipitation in Western and Central Massachusetts will come around 4 a.m. Tuesday and around 5 a.m. for Eastern Massachusetts, forecasters said.
